Parish trip to Arley Hall

On 30th June 2024 parishioners visited Arley Hall and Gardens

Our group of 40 greatly enjoyed the visit to the Garden festival in the Cheshire countryside last Sunday afternoon. Fortunately, despite grey skies, the threat of rain was short-lived and it was mainly fine. Those who prioritized entry to the splendid hall itself were amply rewarded by the contents but (whisper it gently!) there were quite a few who explored the gardens first and arrived too late for entry to the hall!

A fascinating insight into the year-round schedule of work in the extensive and beautifully-stocked gardens was provided by the head-gardener on the tour. Countless stalls offered a great variety of plants for colourful summer borders and there were specialized food-outlets retailing local delicacies such as home-produced cheeses and crusty savouries, along with Cheshire-farms custard and rice pudding! Prosecco was also on tap!

To complete the outing, a relaxing meal was well presented at Albert’s Restaurant where we were able to dine without the stress of watching the England football match, though the vital, dramatic statistic did filter through prior to leaving for home! All in all, a very satisfying and rewarding excursion.
